How do I export a large database?

Apparently, my database has gotten too big to be exported by the tool in Confluence. When I try to do a custom export, the system "times out" before it can load the page list. Is there a way to change the "time out" time.

Is there a way to group the pages so that the "tree" of pages will show up and then I can select subsets of data to export?

A couple of thoughts -

Export the database separately and restore to the new location, then backup/restore confluence without attachments to the new location? I've not tried this, so test it first.
