How do I link Jira issues with Confluence pages that use Comala Document Management?

Suraj Andrews September 8, 2021

Desired behaviour: The Epic can transition out of a status only if the linked Confluence page(s) in the Epic is in the 'Approved' state from the Comala Document Management plugin.

My guess is that we may have to use scriptrunner or Automation for Jira. As I have neither at the moment, I want to know which of these can implement this use-case. Or, is there some other option to achieve this?

I am using:

  • Confluence Data Center 17.12.0
  • Comala Document Management 6.15.2
  • Jira Data Center 8.17.0

Thanks in advance for your help! :)

Hi Suraj,

I believe that you can do this with ScriptRunner, you might want to ask their support team or see if someone from the Adaptavist team contributes here.

To get you started... I think you need the Jira remotelink API endpoint:

To get the Comala Document Management workflow state, you can use the ContentState endpoint:

Hope that helps

Hi @Suraj Andrews ,

from my experience with Automation for Jira, since you can do API calls in a rule and have conditions depending on what is returned to the call, I would say that it should work in your case.

You would be able to query Confluence API and Comala from Automation for Jira, and depending on the result, then change the Epic status.

Let me know if this helps,
