I need to restore a Confluence database instance and the only backup I have available is the upgradeRecoveryFile (specifically upgradeRecoveryFile-6216-7601-after.xml.gz). This file apparently does not contain the information used by the normal restore function in the administration page, such as the exportDerscriptor.properties file. How do I use this recovery file to restore the database?
Hi Geoffrey,
Despite it's name, the upgradeRecoveryFile cannot be used to restore Confluence to the pre-upgrade state. I can quote from an internal doc: "Upgrade Recovery Files are not backups. While they contain all the data in the database, there is currently no way to restore that data back to a database."
Please check your <Confluence_Home>/backups directory for XML backups that do have the exportDescriptor.properties files. These can be used to restore your data to a newly installed instance of the same version.
Thanks,
Ann
