How do i get "excerpt include" content searchable

verwooks December 15, 2016

I have several pages that has excerpted content from pages from another space, and this space status can be "current" or "archived" it doesn't matter. I've tried rebuilding content index as well to be sure.

Im not able to get any search results from words that are inside at page with macro excerpt include.

This happens with instantsearch pluging, and without the plugin.

How can i solve this?

Hi,

I dont' know, if I'm too late, but you can use a cache macro to make the reused content searchable. The approach is described on this page: https://ffeathers.wordpress.com/2011/05/15/making-the-include-macros-content-appear-the-confluence-search-results/

It works..., but unfortunately not for us, because we use a versioning plugin, which only allows the usage of the include+macro. And this macro is not compatible with the cache-macro.

Greetings,

Volker

Hi Atle,

The search engine indexes can't index the content of a macro, if that macro content is generated at runtime.

The Excerpt Include macro pulls in data from [whatever Excerpt macro you've told it to] when the page is rendered (i.e. opened by a user).  So there is no way for the content of that macro to be indexed.

If the page that contains the Excerpt macro is in a current space (i.e. it's NOT in an archived space) then the content of the Excerpt macro should be indexed because it's static data.
