Our company uses the quick search bar that appears at the top of the page as well as search macros on 'homepages' in each space.
We've gotten feedback from employees that:
a) The search results in between the macro and quick search bar are different.
b) The search results in the macro aren't helpful: meaning that when they search for 'xyz' the results are 'complicated and specific xyz' rather than 'intro to xyz.'
Most of the time our 'intro xyz' pages are parent pages with 'complicated xyz' being child pages.
Is it possible to configure the search results to a) be the same and b) show parent pages first?

@Maggie Cumby Welcome to Confluence.
There is an inhernt difference between the Search Bar and the Macro.
As such, you will not receive the same results from searching in either. And since you are searching on a homepage, the results will be sub-pages, or in your parlance, 'complicated xyz' pages.
Here is some documentation related to the Search Macro to assist you.
