Hello,
I install confluence on my server (4.3) with Mysql and it work great. However, I need to have a redundant system for disater recovery. The backup server will be in another location and will have the same configuration as the one in production.
At various interval, I will need to switch site. ie., making the current production the standby and the standby will be change to production. I could setup my sql replication to the remote location
How could I set up such a machine?. Also, how does this affect my license.
Thanks
Hi there,
You can learn about how to configure Confluence in a cold failover configuration by following the instructions in this document: https://confluence.atlassian.com/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=154633658
It doesn't affect your license because you can use a Developer license for cold failover, so to generate a developer license please follow the instructions in this document: http://www.atlassian.com/licensing/purchase-licensing#licensing-9
All the best,
John
The link provided is for using clustering environment.
We have an evaluation license and is considering buying licenses for this product. Our current setup is
MYSQL, COnfluence 4.3.2
It is instal on our server (win 2008 R2 64 bit ) OS . I have a similar machine in a remote location and is currently replication the MYSQL DB (confluence is NOT install) . I need some help on how to setp/confgure Confluence on the remote machine and switch to it.
A detail procedure would be very helpful. I need to do this swich (Both ways) . This is one of blocking issue for issuing a PO for confluence licenses.
Thanks in advance for your help

I can't get to the link as the documentation site keeps telling me its undergoing maintenance but, when it does come back online look at the section on confluence "clustering" as i seem to recall it was in there. You would not need a clustered license but, it cover how to keep with-in the license agreement and have a cold-stand by site. The basic idea is that you use your developer’s license when you setup the disaster site for installation and that anytime you need to use the disaster recovery site you must shutdown the production site. When the production site is shutdown your license is "effectively" transfered to the disaster recover site.
From a technical standpoint, you could make snapshots of the sql database and export them to an sql server running at your disaster site. The other piece of the puzzle you would need to worry about would be the confluence data directory on the local disk (you choose it at install time) this will contain plugins, attachments and some configurations, so it would need to be backed-up as well to get access to anything more than just the text stored in a page.
