Hello dear Community,
Our customers created documentation pages on Confluence and few of them are not accessible anymore due to an error :
caused by: java.net.URISyntaxException: Illegal character in path at index 17: /display/PRODIGY/[EZ][GDPR]+Ajouter+un+lien+vers+le+bandeau+privacy
at java.net.URI$Parser.fail(URI.java:2848)
In the meantime of correcting the error, we wish to delete the pages, and yet we can't proceed for the pages don't display the classical page menu.
Is it possible to delete page from another interface in the Confluence admin for instance?
Thx for your help fellow Confluencians !
Mayane
Hi Mayane,
As the page contains special characters – accessing the page should display the URL similar than this:
YOUR_CONFLUENCE/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=THE_PAGE_ID
If you have access to the page id you can delete it by changing the URL to:
YOUR_CONFLUENCE/pages/removepage.action?pageId=THE_PAGE_ID
assuming your user has delete page permissions on a space level and edit permissions on the page itself.
Best,
Tobias
Hello Tobias,
Thanks a lot for your help !
I tried your solution, though our URL structure is a bit different so we ended up with 404 not found.
Anyway, if i sort out our URL structure, i believe this can solve the problem.
Thanks a lot and have a nice day.

Hello @Mayane and welcome to Community!
Have you tried accessing these pages from different browsers?
Would restrict these pages be enough? Meaning, would it be OK if you just restricted viewing of these pages instead of deleting them? You could create a new page, apply view restriction on it, and then move the error pages under it - since view restrictions are inherited, no one could see the error pages.
If you still want to delete pages, you can use WebDAV instead of the usual menu:
Hope this helps!

Hello Manon,
Thanks a lot for your help !
Indeed, the problem still occurs whichever browser i use.
Anyway, hidding the pages and playing with restricitions was just what we needed for the moment.
Thanks again and have a great day !
