Insert profile image displays profile thumb in edit, but broken image on saved page

I'm using confluence 4.3.5

When I use the insert the profile picture macro on a page I'm editing, it displays fine. I can see the profile images on user profile pages and next to comments on threads. But I get a broken image when I save the page I'm editing (it still displays fine if I go back to edit mode).

Anyone have any ideas?

This issue disappeared after I added some SSL redirects - I have a feeling that the widget was doing REST calls back to confluence and couldn't access the image (even though it was displaying in other contexts

Have you tried clearing your browser cache? I think that could be one possible reason for this issue.
