Our national church organisation is looking at using the basic Confluence product for our leadership team across the country. Our website is already hosted on shared hosting through HostMonster ... do you think it's possible to install and host Confluence on this same shared hosting account?
I have read other posts where people suggest this is not possible due to the need to run Tomcat and have other scripts running continuously, which overloads the resource allocations on many shared servers.
I took a short look on host monster and I think, that you'll fail with the root access you'll need to install the application, everything else depends on the allocated resources, as they are not mentioned on the feature list. I would say, it will not work.
What you'll need is either a dedicated server or vm or try confluence cloud.
Regards
Steve
Confluence tends not to be a low-resource application, and I don't know what the specs are for your HostMonster system.
Have a look at https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/DOC/Server+Hardware+Requirements+Guide to get an idea of what hardware Atlassian recommends and compare it with your server. Remember to allow some resources for running the operating system and other services
