I would like to create a database view in Confluence, similar to the ability in notion. I have many reports organize by multiple categories (project, topic, persons, etc.).
I want to be able to create a Confluence page for each report, and to create interactive views for each category.
For example, I want to be able to create a page for a specific topic that will only display reports related to this topic, a page for each person and so on.
I want those views to update automatically, not manually.
Is it possible in Confluence? Do I need an add on for this?
Hi @Ofri Wienner,
To do something like this in Confluence you will indeed need a third party app. One of the apps that can do this is our app PocketQuery. It lets you define Datasources (e.g. SQL databases or REST APIs) in an administration interface and also Queries. Users can then use the PocketQuery macro to execute your pre-defined Queries in Confluence pages.
As you can see, you can also parameterize your Queries and can let users define (and dynamically change) parameter values on the Confluence pages.
PocketQuery also comes with a Templating feature which lets you define exactly how your data shall be rendered. The default template is a simple table (which you can see in the screenshot above) but we also have a wrapper over the Google Charts library so you can very easily render charts of any type as well:
Hope this helps. If you have any questions about it, let me know - or contact our support! :)
Cheers,
Sven
Hi @Ofri Wienner,
I've had the same requirement and we've used the Page Properties macro for a long time, even though it has a lot of disadvantages. Being a co-founder of an App-vendor, we thought for a long time about an app to close that gap.
And, what can I say 🙂: Just before Xmas, we've released Orderly Databases for Confluence on the Atlassian Marketplace, which brings Notion-like database to Confluence:
Structured data with typed fields, references to other databases (called "Database Link"), configurable reports (using the Orderly Database macro), and much more. Even though it is still pretty new, I think it pretty much solves you requirements.
Have a look and let me know if anything is missing for you! The current version is just the start.
Cheers,
-Stefan

Great, it looks like exactly what I wanted.
I see that the plugin is for confluence cloud, can I use it in confluence server?

Thanks, I hoped so. Unfortunately it is (and will be) cloud only. 😕
