🧩 Background

  • We are using Deep Clone for Jira to duplicate issues.
  • These cloned issues are published to Confluence pages using the Jira macro.
  • The Confluence pages contain multiple SVG and PNG images.
  • When exporting these pages to PDF, some images fail to render, and the issue occurs randomly on different images each time.
  • We have tried:
    • Re-uploading the images
    • Converting SVGs to PNGs
    • Reducing image size and resolution
    • Ensuring all images are attached directly to the page and inserted inline

Despite these efforts, the issue persists.

✅ Additional Observations

  • The first release document (with similar structure and images) exported perfectly with no missing images.
  • The second release document started showing this issue.
  • We suspect this may be related to server resource limitations (e.g., disk space, memory, or rendering timeout) or PDF export engine instability.

🔍 Questions

  1. Are there known limitations or bugs in Confluence’s PDF export engine regarding image rendering?
  2. Could this be caused by server-side resource constraints (e.g., memory, disk, cache)?
  3. Is there a recommended way to ensure all images are reliably rendered in PDF exports?
  4. Are there any logs or diagnostics we can check to identify image rendering failures during PDF generation?

We would appreciate your guidance or any recommended configuration changes to resolve this issue.

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi @김진명 welcome to the community!  I did a search on Atlassian's Jira site and found a few work items that may be your issue: CONFCLOUD-77137,  CONFCLOUD-19706 , &, CONFCLOUD-72048 .  There may be a few more, you're more than welcome to look out there yourself.

I also found this interesting one: CONFCLOUD-54983

I would suggest voting for and watching them for updates.  I've not found any specific workaround.  I don't think it would be related to server side issues as you are using cloud software.

Maybe as you continue to work with it, you may find a pattern that works better.  You could also reach out to Atlassian Support since you have a Premium license and they might have some suggestions.

Hope that helps.
