I have a list of existing documents hosted on a shared drive that I want to integrate into Confluence. Is it possible to link or embed those files so that every time someone edits the file in the shared drive it is updated in confluence. I tried the Excel Macro but it did not update the file.

If you use your operating system to link the shared directory under a script directory in the Confluence home directory, then you should be able to access it directly with the file parameter - see Excel Macro.
