Is there a "checkout" macro for checking out attachments on wiki pages?

Hello, Friends,

My team has a spreadsheet attached to a Confluence wiki page. When the attachment is edited, we send an email around to notify everyone.

Is there a macro, or some other "checkout" functionality, available in Confluence?

There is a plugin in the marketplace for this.

This really should be standard functionality, and there are long standing Confluence feature requests for this - please watch/vote/comment on the following issues to influence Atlassian's resp. roadmap:
