Is there a way to create an XML site backup that omits archived spaces and deactivated users?

Julia January 18, 2024

Hi there,

We're looking to create an XML file that can be reimported, but we would like it to exclude archived spaces (i.e., any space with status: archived) and deactivated users.

Is there a way to do this from the export or do we need to do this manually once we have the file?

Thanks!

Hi @Julia Welcome to the Atlassian community.

There is no way to skip the spaces while taking the site backup and regarding the deactivated users if those users have created any content in the confluence like created pages, commented on pages, created blogs, etc then technically they should be migrated as well and part of the export so that after the import content created by them are mapped to their account else in the import process those content will be mapped to the system created users.

If you want a clean data for import you can either clean that before the export or after the import is completed, else you want to keep the data on old system then after export import the data to intermediate instance and then do a clean and take export from that site and import to your target system.

Thanks

Ravina
