Is there a way to have the numbered column include a label in the header row?

I have a numbered column in my table and I want to add a a label for it in the header row.  For example, I want to have a header label "Test Number" in the header, which is followed by rows with auto-generated numbers.  The top-left cell above the numbered column is basically a dead cell and it would be great for me if I could add a label to it.  Thanks.

I REALLY need this. I want to use table transformation to combine two tables but the only key I have is an auto numbering one on the first table matching to a reference on the second. Unfortunately because Atlassian choose not to give this column any name at all, it's not possible to match the columns in the SQL of the table transformation macro

Hi @Paula Cruickshank ,

If you are referring to our Table Filter, Charts & Spreadsheets for Confluence app and it's Table Transformer macro, then you have at least two workarounds:

  • If you use native Confluence autonumbering, wrap your table in the Table Transformer macro and type in SELECT T1. and wait, you'll be presented with a dropdown list of column names that are present in your source table.
The unnamed autonumbered column will be seen by the macro as T1.'__'
    So, you can use it.
  • And you can always use an extra (or existing - depends on the case) Table Transformer macro to create the autonumbered column and assign a proper name to it: SELECT ROWNUM() AS 'Some name', * FROM T*

If you are stuck, please refer to our support portal directly. It's confidential, so, we'll be able to guide you through the case.

@Joe McLeer Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

As described in this question/response from about a year ago (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Confluence-questions/Possible-to-add-a-column-heading-for-a-numbered-column-in-cloud/qaq-p/2355881), I believe the answer is still that this is not possible.

There may be a 3rd-party app that allows this. You can check the Atlassian Marketplace to see if something meets your needs.

Thank you for your response.  As you suggest, I will check the Marketplace to see if there is anything there that would allow me to do what I am looking to do.
