Currently using v6.0.14 of Team Calendars
We would like to create a shared calendar that acts as a kind of "resources" calendar..
For example, we would have several meeting rooms. People can add events to those meeting room calendars and therefore we can keep track of which rooms are in use at what time.
Unfortunately with it being a shared calendar someone could (in theory) come along and move some other persons booking up a day. Claiming that time for themselves.
Is there a way to guard against this without applying strict restrictions to the calendar to only be editable by certain people?
For instance a setting that makes it so that only you can edit/move your own events?
Additionally, is there a feature for a resource-scheduling like calendar that also has functionality like preventing double booking etc?
Hi Sam,
There is not currently a way to restrict specific events from other users if a calendar is shared with them or they have access to the space in which it was created. Restrictions can only be made across an entire calendar. You can read more about calendar restrictions here.
That said, it looks like there’s an open Feature Request to add the ability to restrict events:
Per the Atlassian New Features Policy, please comment on the ticket to let our product team know how this would benefit your team.
With regard to your second question about resource-scheduling - again, there is no feature for this currently in Team Calendars. I think it’s a great suggestion, so I’ve gone ahead and created a new feature request on your behalf:
Similarly, please vote and comment on the feature to provide more insight to the Confluence product team!
Thanks,
Rachel
Thanks Rachel, I'll add my vote and comment to those feature requests :)
