It is possible to reset page version to 1?

Nick Donofrio April 22, 2015

I've gone numerous draft revisions of a page, but now our team wants to officially approve the final version and have it indicated as v1.  Is this possible?

Hi Nick,

You could also consider making a copy of it which would then be version 1. If you wanted to save the history of how you got there you could then make the original page with all versions a child page underneath it and perhaps restrict it down to yourself so others don't get confused. At the very least the copy method and deleting the original page could be much quicker if you have a lot of versions.

Best regards,
Ethan

Good suggestion, hadn't thought of that.

Ok, I think I found a way to do it.  All you have to do is go to Tools > Page History and then delete all the prior versions.  The remaining version will be tagged as v1.

However, it might be helpful to save earlier versions as "drafts" so you don't lose the traceability.  But once the page is approved it could switch from being a draft to being a version, e.g., v1.

Hi Paula,

I don't want to restore an older version.  Let me explain further... If I have worked on a page and made numerous version over the course of several weeks with my team, but now I want to freeze the version, have the requisite stakeholders approve it... can I reset the version to be v1?  I don't care about saving the old drafts (versions).

Thanks,

-NIck
