We are using confluence in an international company and noticed, that the localization of the date macro seems broken.
Create a page, enter // for the date macro, format displayed is mm-dd-yyyy
Click on a date, the format changes to 20 Dec 2017 (English locale)
Finish editing the page, Confluence switches to view mode and voila, German date format (20 Dez 2017)
Is there a way to prevent this extremely annoying behaviour? We would prefer ISO-Format (year, month, day 2017-12-20) or at least a consistent format.
This happens for my client (German Windows locale, English Confluence locale, Server German locale) as well als for other Clients (e.g. English Windows, English confluence, German server).
Hi Shannon!
Confluence default language is set to English (US). The users have a mix of profile languages, mostly English and German.
My personal profile is set to English with German Windows locale.
Our colleagues in the US are using English profiles with English Windows locale.
The current settings in Confluence are like this:
Time Format h:mm a
Date Time Format MM dd, yyyy HH:mm
Date Format MM dd, yyyy
Thank you for your help.
Christian
Christian,
Can you let me know what version of Confluence you're running?
The most I was able to replicate so far is that when I set my default language to German on Confluence (profile and Confluence default) then the date picker does default to German format (21.12.2017) but not even in the format you're displaying.
I'd like to test this again with the exact version of Confluence that you're using.

Thank you, Christian.
I am still unable to replicate this myself so I have sent it to the Confluence Server team. They can obtain more information from you about your server there and will be able to help solve the issue.
Once your issue is resolved through support please feel free to post the answer here so other users can learn what the problem was.

Shannon

Hi Christian,
Is the Confluence default language set to German or English? Do each of the users have their user profiles set to German, or all English?
Lastly, can you let us know what you have configured here:
Thank you!

Shannon
