Maintaining Color Formatting When Copying and Pasting Into Confluence

We have an old knowledge base we want to transfer over some articles from, into Confluence. They have a lot of colored fonts, for instance critical notes are in red etc.

When I initially past them into Confluence all the formatting is maintained, but the moment I hit save all the font colors disappear and all text becomes black. Any suggestions?

What if you paste this data in a document editor (as word or Open Office Writter), and the copy again and paste in Confluence.
