Markup dialog doesn't appear -- console shows json related exception

Good morning,

Working with importing a lengthy markdown document into Confluence for wider viewing; I was able to insert a wiki block containing all my markdown once, however after removing it (attempting to deal with the abysmal handling of curly braces) and trying again, now the markup button does not work.

Tried:

• Reloading my page
• Deleting and recreating my page
• Closing the tab and navigating back to confluence

I do have an adblocker but employer.atlassian.net is whitelisted.

Chrome's web console shows this exception when the markup button is clicked:

VM4708:1 Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token M in JSON at position 0

Edit:  Seems to work in IE 11, though.
