Hi !
We plan to migrate our Confluence Datacenter Server and upgrade it to the latest 9.24 LTS Version.
Currently we have Confluence 8.5.12 as also PostgreSQL 12 running. The latest Confluence DC LTS doesn't support Postgre 12 so we go with Version 16. Compare to Google this need to be done via pg_upgrade as a direct migration is not possible.
The docs on Atlassian are good but it's not that clear written if the steps like below are fine or if something else need to be noted.
Is it enough to copy over the 'home' + 'inst' folder over to the new VM and adjust the needed configs ? Afterwards start the Confluence installer which should only update Confluence related system files but not created sites, attachments etc. ?
The PostgreSQL Version 16 will be already upgraded before and include all DBs, ROLLE information like the old one has. Is that fine ?
Maybe someone performed already such migrations and could provide some hints.
Best regards,
Henrik
Hi @Henrik
That would be my approach, you should be fine. Do not remove the old server config and dbs till you have the new server up and running. Also be sure to have backups.
