We would like to migrate our Confluence wiki site that is on version 3.4 (On Prem) to Cloud Confluence. If somebody has experience with similar upgrade, can you please suggest a path and process that will help me.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

that's pretty hard target. You wil need first upgrade your confluence to newest version through several interim versions and for this you need valid license.

I don't have experience with upgrade too old verion of Confluence like this, but I think that could go in this upgrade path

3.4  -> 3.5 -> 4.0 -> 4.3 -> 5.0 -> 5.5 -> 5.10 -> 6.0 ->  6.9 -> 6.15 -> 7.2

https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/confluence-release-notes-327.html
Check all release notes of all versions and make a notes about changes.

Also you need to check upgrade notes and supported platforms regarding support for databases.

And as most important make all of this first on test enviroment.

If you don't have experience with upgrade like this try to contact any Atlassian partner in your area.

I'd agree very strongly with that chain of versions.

You might be able to skip 4.3 or a couple of others, but do NOT skip 3.5, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 or 6.15 on the way to 7.2

Thanks Peter and Nic, it seems there is no easy path. The only way as you suggest is to go through the chain of versions, which I was hoping I could avoid if possible.

There are now significant differences between the editor in the Cloud and server editions that you need to be aware of - see https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/confluence-cloud-editor-roadmap-967314556.html

You should also consider that any custom user macros or other add-ons will not work or may work differently in Cloud.
