Migration to Cloud from Server version of Confluence

4A Games December 12, 2019

I want to test migration from server version of Confluence to Cloud using Cloud Migration Assistant.

How can I prevent users migration in this case? I've selected to migrate only one space but it still shows me that some user data will be migrated.

Does migrated users get invitation automatically?

Hello @4A Games ,

the user data that is migrated is only what's needed to make user mentions work for example. It will not send invites to your users.

I have tested this more than 10 times and have never run into any issues with users data or emails, you can make your tests without worrying :)

Let me know if this helps,

I would caution you to think about the decision very carefully before you decide to make the move from server to cloud.  The cloud version recently forced on everyone a new editor which is complete junk.  Basically, they re-wrote the editor from the ground up and got rid of a ton of useful features while introducing hundreds of bugs.  The content created with the new editor renders differently than content created in the old editor, and it's far, far inferior.  Based on the feedback I've seen, I'm not alone in being extremely irritated by this move on their part and by  the overall lack of empathy for the long-term customers that they've screwed over with this decision.  If I could go back in time, I would definitely not move from server to cloud, despite the latter's apparent advantages.
