Dear Atlassian Community,
Currently we have our confluence server running on AWS ECS Service behind an AWS - ALB (application load balancer).
However, our Server license of this confluence is coming to an end (15 FEB 2024).
Hence we are looking to move our confluence spaces to another confluence site (another centrally managed place).
I am following this Atlassian link here to follow the export/import process of moving a confluence site/space.
https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/merge-multiple-confluence-cloud-sites/
However, while trying to carry out the export under backup & restore option, I am getting the 504 Gateway timeout.
To note here, the confluence space I am looking to export is around 200 MB in size.
So I am puzzled why there is a Gateway timeout error ? given that the space size is just 200 MB.
Any guidance is much appreciated here. Thanks.
Hi Vinayak.
I think you have a timeout in load balancer and because of that you get a gateway timeout.
Usually the process still runs in background
You could save it permanently and you can then find it in your <home-directory>/restore/space
folder
The documentation you are looking at is for cloud, this is the documentation for server platform:

Manne
Thanks Manne for the details.
I have gone through the link you have shared -
https://confluence.atlassian.com/conf85/back-up-a-space-or-multiple-spaces-1283361025.html
But, my confluence page (under administrator) doesn't have the option of "Create a backup" and "Select spaces" there.
My current confluence version is 7.19.16 running on ECS Fargate with a mounted volume of /CONFLUENCE_HOME.
Any further inputs, much appreciated.

What about Exporting a space as XML and importing it to a new space?
I did that a couple of times.

Hi Kristian, thanks.
I was trying to do the same, but when I tried to export the page using the export option there, I ended up having 504 Gateway error. So as Manne Kjaerby highlighted in this thread, the backup process might be running in the background and completed, but now to retrieve that backup ? I don't see any option from Confluence administrator page to do that.
