Hi there,
I have a confluence page with an attached Powerpoint-file (pptx).
On another confluence page, I have a link to that pptx-file.
When I click on the link in Edge, the presentation is opened in a new tab in the Office web viewer (view.officeapps.live.com). When I click on the link in Firefox or Chrome, the file is being downloaded.
Question 1: do you have any idea how I can make Chrome (and/or Firefox) to open the presentation in Office online, like Edge does?
Question 2: do you know any other method in Confluence to show a preview of an Office file, which is linked from another page? (e.g. like the preview when I upload a pptx-file to the page)
Thanks in advance and best regards,
Stefan
Hi, I'm Aslan.
It doesn't look like there is any way to configure this. I investigated changing the popup and download behaviours in Chrome's settings, but it seems like this is a browser specific implementation from Atlassian.
If you click the link in Chrome and download the file, you should be able to right click on the download at the bottom of the window and select "Always open files of this type". It should then open files of that type in their appropriate sites. Those preferences can be cleared in the Downloads tab of Chrome settings.
Hope this helps, have a good day.
