PERMALUSERSUBJECT error after upgrading to latest version

Maximiliano Villagra June 6, 2018

This is because our older instance had the license expired. However, i did not know that it would fail to start when upgrading to the newer one. I have a new license but according to the document, I need to revert.

What the document does not say is "how" to revert.

Any information on how to roll back other than reverting my VM and DB from backup?

Thanks

Hello,

Unfortunately, there is no rollback mechanism in Confluence, so if you encounter any issues during upgrade, you would need to restore your Database and Installation/Home directories from backup, see How to roll back to a previous version of Confluence for more information. So in your case, if you have a VM snapshot, and your DB is on the same VM as your instance, you can just restore a snap.

Before restore, you can also try changing your license directly from system files, as described in How to change the Confluence License in confluence.cfg.xml guide.

Let me know if you have any further questions

I went ahead and restored the VM and the DB and I was able to bring the old version back. After that, I was able to update the license and upgrade again.

For information purpose: I also run into the pool connection issue, and I had to adjust the config file to solve it.

Other than that, I was able to get everything up and running.

Thanks,
