I’ve been experiencing noticeable slowness when editing certain Confluence pages—especially those with a relatively large amount of content. The page loads fine initially, but once I enter edit mode, it becomes very sluggish and difficult to work with.
I’ve ruled out browser-related issues, so I’m wondering if there are known limitations or best practices for managing/editing content-heavy pages in Confluence.
A few questions:
Is there a recommended content or size threshold for optimal editing performance?
Are certain macros or elements known to cause more lag than others?
Any guidance on structuring or breaking up large pages to avoid this issue?
I’d appreciate any insight or suggestions. Thank you!
Hi @Yasmin Khamis and welcome to the Community.
I have a page like that and it can be extremely frustrating to wait for changes to show (or the page to load in the edit mode).
The solution is to split the page into logical chunks and save each as a standalone page, then use page include macro on the main page.
Example:
Split main page's content into three chunks and create 3 pages:
Then, on the main page:
Introduction to the page
(you can create those 3 support pages in the same space or another space, just make sure that permission on those pages is identical to permissions on the main page)
