When I add restrictions to a page, someone who has no access can remove the restrictions and gain access. So in first instance he or she cannot edit the page but after setting the restrictions to "no restrictions" the edit button appears again.

The admin has already set the possibility to restrict pages to only the admin. However the individual users can still set these restrictions.

So my question, how do you prevent a page from being edited by restricted users?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Dimitri,

By default, a user who is restricted from editing a page, should not have the option to remove the restrictions on that page, unless,

  • They are an admin of that Space that the page is in, or
  • They are a Confluence, or a System administrator

Otherwise, when they try to change the restrictions, they would see the following message, and won't have the option to change it.

You're not allowed to change these restrictions. It's either due to edit restrictions on the page, or permissions settings for this space.

Do check to see if the user who is able to remove the restrictions is an admin of the space, or the Confluence instance, either directly, or through a user group.

Cheers,
Sattesh
