Problem with Confluence and Citrix-Workspace

Oliver Lukanowski April 15, 2020

Hey,

Our Company uses the Citrix-Workspace, and we want to get started with Confluence Cloud and Jira. But at the moment we can´t edit or create pages in Confluence. The Bar where you can select the Font, Fontsize, Bulletpoints etc. ist just grey and not clickable.

Hope you guys can help me out.

Best Regards

Oliver

Just want to chime in that I use Confluence Cloud via Citrix so it definitely works. The only hiccup I've encountered is that I can't use the Source Editor plugin via Citrix so there's definitely some sort of problem in the way that they interact.

But I'm afraid I employ a workaround (I use another laptop!) so I can't offer a solution.

Hi @RPT Admin,

Thanks for your update on that, nonetheless! Hoping that it's just a simple block in this case.

Take care,

Hello Oliver,

Thank you for tagging me on this!

That issue tends to be related to a network issue. Are you having the same issue outside of Citrix, and from multiple network locations, and from various browsers (e.g. Chrome, Firefox, Safari)?

You'll want to rule out that the Citrix Workspace isn't the cause of the issue, and that your network admin hasn't set any rules that would prevent you from using Confluence Cloud. You'll also want to make sure that you can access the Cloud domains and IP range from your network.

Finally, please make sure that websockets are allowed for you. If websocket connections are being blocked, then you will also encounter the greyed toolbar:

  • CONFCLOUD-68168 Edit functions is grayed out in Confluence Cloud for certain users

You can test this on https://websocketstest.com. If your network doesn't allow or support WSS connections, then the WebSockets (Port 443, SSL) section will be blank.

Regards,

Shannon

Hey Shannon,

I forwarded your Message to our IT and this was their reply:

We are using a Sophos UTM webproxy with deep SSL inspection which is maybe the cause for the issue. Can you please let us know which URLs need to be excluded from SSL inspection?

Hello Oliver,

I would refer your IT team to the Cloud IP Ranges and Domains article.

I would also recommend that you use the Developer Tools in your browser while accessing the site via a network that doesn't do any SSL inspection. You can use this to capture the URLs that are accessed when performing these actions, such as editing the page.

Another option is to generate a HAR file in the same situation (without SSL inspection) and that will give you a report of the URLs that it's accessing.

In particular, when we inspected the site via Developer Tools, we can see what URLs are accessed when clicking the edit button. From what I saw, you would likely need to whitelist *.atlassian.com  and *.atl-paas.net

I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any trouble or questions from your IT team.

Shannon
