Currently, we have a template wiki space where we manage our page templates.
New spaces are created from this space by making a copy.
the question i have is whether we can update a template in our template space, and push this change to all other wiki spaces that already exist? (as far as I can see the template part seems to be quite static within a wikispace so my hopes aren't that high :-) )
@De Jonghe, Matijs Matt's point above would seem to solve your issue!
I have a few other questions for you:
- Do you copy Spaces purely to bring over your custom template library? Or are you using your defined Space structure and organization to sort of create a full "Space Template" specific to your org?
- When you say that you want to update a template and push that update to all other spaces, are you refering to updating all other templates available to use in the other spaces? Or, going further and updating all pages that used that template to adopt the updated template structure?
Thanks for your time! I am the new Templates PM and looking forward to learning more about your feedback!
Hi Sam,
and sorry for the late reply btw.
But what we do is that we have a separate space per customer.
In our department, we create this customer space based on, or, starting from an existing 'template space structure' which is copied.
In other departments our structure is not used, so there they start either from blank, or another template space setup.
Next to that, we defined a specific template for analysis documents (for usage within our department)
This template is used for some of the customer spaces (not all customers have a similar project where this type of template is used).
Over time, many analysis documents are being written with our template which is available in the project's wiki spaces.
Also over time, the template is being reviewed and updated.
So it would be great that the exstisting project spaces could also benefit from these updates. Meaning, for every new page they create, from the moment the template has been updated, the new template is also automatically used to create a new analysis document.
Global templates could work, although the other departments would also have this template then, which may bring confusion in case they have their own analysis template.
So ideally they don't see our template.
I hope this clarifies a bit on how we want to use this, if not, please let me know and i'll get back to you (sooner than this time... I promise)

Hi @De Jonghe, Matijs, welcome to the community!
Have you looked into the possibility of creating global templates instead? If you would use global templates instead, they would be available in the spaces as well, and updates would be automatically applied to the template in the space.
Best, Max
