A page named "Travelor" does not appear on top 5 or 10 searches

Partha Maitra September 16, 2021

Hello,

I have a page named "Travelor" which does not appear on the top 5 or 10 searches. All other pages with the keyword "Travel" in their title appear first.

I tried adding several labels on the page, republished the page, added more keywords with 'travelor', still no success.

I have checked the pageviews and other related pages with less pageviews easily appear on the search. So failed there as well.

Please help.

Regards,

Partha

Part of the problem here is probably word-stemming as well.  If you are doing the indexing in English, then Confluence will be looking at the word stem "travel" and finding it.

Travelor is not an English word, so the indexing system can't know whether the word is stemmed from "travel", and so it can't prioritise it.

What could be the possible solution to this? I am getting complaints from users regarding this page.

Because it's not a word, the stemming can't help you.

You'll need to ask people to search for "travelor" in full.  Or change the word to an English one (I don't know why you've used it, so I can't say if that is of any use to you)

The problem is even with the full word "Travelor" it does not appear on top 5 or 10 searches.

It is the name of a supplier that is why we have to use it the same way.

I thought it might be a real name.  I'm afraid the best you can do here is exact searches with CQL - see https://developer.atlassian.com/server/confluence/performing-text-searches-using-cql/
