Add summary of related pages to template

Jill Skjøndal Grefsrud November 3, 2022

Hi. :)
We need to link multiple pages in a category so that when a new page is created from a template, we can use added content report table (or similar) to list other pages that are directly related, all under a common parent page further up the chain. Any suggestions as to how this can be easily set up? We use Jira as well.

Hi Jill,

You could add a label to the template, and then use the "Content Report Table" to create a list of the pages that have that label.

From the wiki:

Labels

Add a label to a template to apply it to every page created from that template. This is helpful if you want to create a page properties report to keep track of similar pages.

Add labels to a template
To add labels to a template in the legacy editor:

  1. Select .
  2. Enter labels into the box, separated by the Space key.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Select Close.

To add labels to a template in the new editor:

  1. Select > Add labels.
  2. Enter labels into the box, separated by the Space key.
  3. Select Add.
  4. Select Close.

Insert the content report table macro

The Content Report Table macro displays a set of pages and blog posts as a table, based on the labels specified in the macro parameters.

Use the Content Report Table macro

To add the Content Report Table macro:

  1. When editing, select from the toolbar
  2. Find the macro by name and select it

Hi, Ashley. I already considered this, but it doesn't completely do what we need, as there will be a vast number of different labels to put in the macro upon creation of the pages.

So I predefined Ancestor page, defined rules for using a prefix to the designated labels (and hope people operate by the rules), and will manually maintain the labeling in the macro parameters. Should make it possible to make some sort of RPA on a later stage, to automatically add labels to the macro parameters. :)
