I wanted to get the awesome Jira dashboard gadgets available in Confluence. So I followed the instructions online to make sure the apps were linked and trusted, I found the gadget URL's and added them in the confluence admin panel, and I was able to see them as options when I selected "add macro" while editing my page. I selected wallboard, and saw the configuration screen for selecting the board, the size, quick filters, etc. - all great. I hit "save" and saw the preview and everything - but when I hit "insert", the dialogue box closes and nothing appears on the Confluence page.
The same problem happens for all the gadget url's I added - wallboard, roadmap, created vs resolved, pie charts, etc. They show up as macro options when editing Confluence, allow me to configure by selecting project/size/filter, confirms with a preview when I hit "save", but when I click "insert", nothing appears on the page. What am I doing wrong here?
Hi @Marisa Hager,
Hope I can help a bit with this, but I need to ask a few questions to dig a bit deeper.
Is it happening with all macros or just the ones linked to Jira?
Are you using Jira Server or Jira Cloud?
What versions of each software do you currently have installed?
Thanks, Patrick! All the other macros work just fine, it's just the ones that are Jira dashboard gadgets. And we're using Jira Server. As for the versions, we have Jira v7.2.1#72003-sha1:3448e6b and Confluence 6.1.2. Hope this will help us get to the bottom of the issue - thanks again!

One other quick symptom I just noticed that might help with troubleshooting - the Preview / Update / Close buttons at the bottom of the edit screen in Confluence are grayed out after I try and fail to insert Jira gadgets. Not sure if this system is spinning and waiting for something and that's why they don't ever become active buttons. I've been editing dozens of other pages in Confluence today and using other gadgets and none of those pages experiences the grayed-out buttons problem, so I'm assuming it's connected somehow to trying to get Jira gadgets to display. FYI.

OK, I'm looking at this thread from a few years ago and these users seem to have the same issue that you do.
It has something to do with configuring application links, gadget feeds, and server based urls with IP addresses instead of server names.
If you are the system admin you should be able to troubleshoot based on these answers, if not I'm sure you can contact your company's sys admin to give it a go.

Thanks, Patrick. We have some system administrators who could help me troubleshoot - it's a really large instance and they're overwhelmed with work so I'm not confident I'll get resolution on this soon if at all. But I'll keep trying and post the results here. Thanks again so much for your time.

Hi @Marisa Hager,
Any update on this? I was just thinking today if your system admins were busy you could look for a partner to do the work for you. Might be faster, would just require signing an NDA so your data is secure and getting cost approval from your team.
Just an idea anyway, hope it works out for you.

Hi @Patrick Cartier [Candylio] - I've got the system administrators' attention and they're looking into it now. I'm forwarding them the thread you referenced above and hope that sets them on the right path! Thanks again!

No problem @Marisa Hager!
Please let us know how it goes!

Hi all, a quick update - the systems administrators upgraded Jira and hoped that would fix the problem, but it didn't. I forwarded the threads above to them and nothing seemed to help. In fact, now most connections to Confluence from Jira are broken - so calendars can't display jira issue dates or releases, filter results won't display, etc. So they've reached out to Atlassian support with logs and info and have been going back and forth with them for almost a month now with no progress. I'll update again when/if they find a solution - but this must be a pretty difficult issue to solve :(

Sounds very difficult, let me ask around some other community champions and see if they have suggestions.
