This is a question from one of our users.
Is it possible to have two pages with the same text, from which one is an alias of the other?
This means that typing text in the original will change the alias automatically.
Thanks in advance,
Sabine Van Regenmortel
Yes, it's off-the-shelf, one of the first reasons I started rating Confluence over other wikis.
Create Page 1, with all the content you want to "alias".
Create Page 2, but put in only the macro {include: Page 1}
Page 2 will display all the current content from Page 1 whenever it is drawn up. It doesn't have to be a flat copy either, people build pages with many includes. If for example, you've got a page of detail for each server in a network, you can do things like include all three pages in a fourth "list of all servers"
You might also want to check out the {excerpt} and {include-excerpt} macros - they allow you to mark part of a source page and include that in a target (even more useful for the "list of all servers" I mentioned before.
Great Nic!
It was off-the-shelf but I didn't know how to look for it.
So asking the question was only left.
Thanks very much and have a nice day!
Sabine
