Hello,
whenever we try to launch the Companion App on a local machine, we get the following error. We are currently unsure where we should start looking for solutions. When I google the error, I see a lot of answers pointing to build environment issues.
Does companion do any sort of build process on first launch?
Hello Stefan,
Could you let us know what version of Windows you are using, and if the machine itself is a VM, thin client, or desktop machine?
How did you install the Companion MSI? If you try installing manually are you able to start it up?
Lastly, can you please check if the log file exists in the following location?
C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming\Atlassian Companion
Regards,
Shannon
Hi Shannon,
there is no log in this location, the folder exists but its empty.
We are using Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB
The app got deployed via MSI and I am running without administrative rights on a desktop machine.
Manual install works on another machine with admin rights
Cheers
Stefan

Stefan,
Thank you for that. I see you actually raised the same issue with the same screenshots back in October, where you were going to check the issues with your deployment. What was the result of that investigation?
Since Windows LTSB is so locked down, I would expect there to be issues with installing Companion App on it. Could you tell me if you installing it normally as an .exe? What are your other deployment options?
Regards,
Shannon
