Avoiding the 'The query returned no rows' message and accompanying spinner

How do I avoid the 'The query returned no rows' message and accompanying spinner when I have a table transformer macro picking up a table excerpt, where the latter currently does not have any data?

On my page output it looks like this. And I can have a number of these on the same page, picking up different data from different sources which also currently doesn't have any entries (so it doesn't look good!).

I'm using a table excerpt include, within a table transformer and wrapping all of this within a further table excerpt:

It doesn't seem to matter what I do in the 'Messages' section, I cannot seem to avoid this ugly combination of 'The query returned no rows.' and the spinner. Confluence spinner 3.JPG

Obviously it is all fine one there is eventually some data in the underlying source table, but how do I tidy this up until that is the case?

Hi @Green_ Desmond ,

As you have the Table Excerpt Include macro wrapped in the Table Transformer macro, I can make a guess that you may see a message coming through it from another Table Transformer macro that is wrapped in the Table Excerpt macro.

Please go to the Settings tab of your Table Transformer macro and navigate to the "Source data" field, choose the "Hide all content" option to get rid of all the tables/messages that may come through your Table Excerpt Include macro. Then set the custom messages.

If the issue persists, please refer to our support.

Your tags say "cloud", but the screenshots point to the Legacy Editor or Server/Data Center. So, if the tags are wrong, please make sure that you have the latest version of the app that is 10.3.1.

Attach the page storages of the page with the issue and the page from which your excerpt is taken (upper right corner of the page -> menu ... -> View storage format). If your source tables include Jira Issues, make a screenshot of the macro in a published state with visible headers. We'll look into the issue.

Yes, I had missed that the table excerpt include was pulling data from another table transformer, which did not have the messages customised for no data.

So, I can get rid of the 'The query returned no rows' message, but this just leaves spinners where there is no data. In the following screenshot, there is an empty data table essentially at the source of each of the 'Test' and 'Staging' transformations, and so with all the various table transformers, table excerpts etc. which produce this, I still can't see a way to avoid the spinners?

As we can't reproduce your data, we can't tell what is going wrong here. Update the app to the latest version and refer to our support as I've mentioned before.

In general, Community is more about sharing data and user experience, its questions can be easily missed by vendors (we find related posts manually and try to give suitable answers) and you can't share your data here as well.

Meanwhile, you may try to check the "Output cached results" option in your Table Excerpt Include macro - maybe it will do the trick with the spinners.
