Borderless Table, Clear Cell Color

For example, you can see here that the tables for 'Purpose' and 'Vision' have a light grey background. When I select 'clear fill' under 'change cell color', nothing happens:


Why isn't white offered as an option here? Why does 'clear fill' not clear the background color (light grey)?

I actually just figured out that if you click into one of the table cells and select either 'heading row' or 'heading column', then the background color will become white / transparent. 



So now, the issue is just that I need for these tables to be borderless. I think there should be a way to do this with CSS, but I've not yet been able to connect a page with the PDF Stylesheet, even after going to Space Tools --> Look and Feel --> PDF Stylesheet and entering styles there. Is there any way to create borderless tables without the Stylesheet?

Also, is there a way to create a border or box shadow around a section without a Stylesheet?

A really simple question: Why you need this in a table? Just insert the picture and the text right to it.

In short: You can not get rid of the table border. You could use CSS for the whole instance, but then, every table would have no borders... That's not what you want :)

Because, without the table, the image and text will not be vertically aligned center. I would be able to compensate for this with CSS, but I'm also not able to access the stylesheet. In addition, I don't want to use an HTML macro and write inline CSS here because we want this template to be used repeatedly by non-coders. 

So we are in fact having to insert the picture next to the text, like this:
It's not perfect but it seems to be our only option without borderless tables.

This is a horrible work-around however it does seem to work.

Sean is precisely right, if you want to use a Table to align gadgets in a specific space across the page, the Table Function looks great.

However, the Gadgets then stand out and the whole thing looks unprofessional.

I noticed that the key sequence is important as well. Highlight the row, check No Color, and then choose Header Row. No other sequence seems to work.
