We have several spaces created by users that have long departed. I am a both a site admin and organizational admin and should be able to delete their legacy spaces. But I do not see a link when I visit the space that allows me to delete it.
I have tried to follow these instructions:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/doc/delete-a-space-139524.html
https://confluence.atlassian.com/confcloud/delete-a-space-724764816.html
But there is no "Delete space" option when I follow these steps.
Any suggestions?
Here's how to delete a space:
If you don't see this, check the permission of the space to see if you have the admin access to the space:
If you can't access this settings, it means that you have the access to the space but not admin permission to the space. As a site admin you would be able to gain this access by going to the Global space permission - https://<domain>/wiki/admin/permissions/viewdefaultspacepermissions.action and then click on the recover permission button next to the space that you'd like to access. Once that's done you should be able to see the manage permission button next to the space instead of recover permission. What recover permission does is that it adds you to the space. That should give you the permission to administer or Delete the space.
Hope that helps!
Thanks for the tip re: Global permissions. That led me to Space permissions, which had the "Recover permissions" link on the space I couldn't delete. After recovering permissions, all options and links were available for me to delete. Thank you!

As per documentation says:
Only someone with space admin permissions can delete that space
So don't mind if you are site or organization admin you first need to grant youself this permission within the space(s) you want to delete.
