Cannot access Confluence from Internet

On my local network, I can access my local self-hosted Confluence server fine from my workstation. However, I cannot access it from the Internet.

I mapped TCP port 8090 on my WAN port to port 8090 on the IP address of my local Confluence server. Both curl's and http requests in Chrome time out. It seems like the connection starts but doesn't complete so that I get a login screen from Confluence.

The browser says

Search Google for<domain> 8090

Hey there John,

Looks like you fixed it, since I can get to the login from my computer which is not on your network:

Do you mind updating the thread to let us know what you did?

If there is any other issue or I misunderstood the case, please let me know.

Cheers,

Ann

I didn't change anything, but I was trying to get to it from within my home network. I turned wifi off on my phone and tried it from the Internet....it works!

It must be that my firewall only allow connections that originate from public IP addresses to enter from the WAN port.

Thanks for checking.
