Confluence Long Term Support version

The latest release of Confluence is 7.18.2, while the latest Long Term Support release is 7.13.7.

This page: https://confluence.atlassian.com/support/atlassian-support-end-of-life-policy-201851003.html

indicates that 7.18 goes EOL on May 30, 2024; while 7.13 goes EOL a long time before that, on Aug 17, 2023.

Why does the LTS version run out of support earlier than the latest release?

All versions have a 2 years support period. All OEL are based on the major version, the first major version:

• 7.13 version was released on 2021/08/17 > +2 years > OEL = 2023/08/17

• 7.18 version was released on 2022/05/30 > + 2 years > OEL = 2024/05/30

The confusion I am having is that the LTS version of Confluence seemingly goes out of support before the latest version does.

I expected that the LTS would have the latest end-of-support date because it is Long Term Support.
