The latest release of Confluence is 7.18.2, while the latest Long Term Support release is 7.13.7.

indicates that 7.18 goes EOL on May 30, 2024; while 7.13 goes EOL a long time before that, on Aug 17, 2023.
Why does the LTS version run out of support earlier than the latest release?

The confusion I am having is that the LTS version of Confluence seemingly goes out of support before the latest version does.
I expected that the LTS would have the latest end-of-support date because it is Long Term Support.
