Confluence Space import, page id's

Mareks Birkenfelds September 20, 2018

Hi.

I'm administrator of on-site Confluence server, and I have received XML space export from client, that I need to import in our Confluence.

Space key is not used, so that is no problem.

My concerns are - we have such links in Confluence : http://SERVER/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=50661453

.. with pageid at the and, and in XML Space export - there is file entities.xml, with page id's : <id name="id">2255752</id>

Question - what will happen if page id is already used in our Confluence, will our links be broken, or import will fail, or perhaps import will change page id's for importable Space ?

Could you explain ?

Thanks.

Mareks

Mareks,

Are the links in the pages embedded manually, or were they added by selecting the name of the page and linking this way?

If they were added automatically then they will be updated upon import. If you added them manually then you may need to update them to the newly assigned page ID.

Shannon

Hi.

Since space export is provided by client, I have no such information - about the way links were added. But I will know - if they will not work - what is the reason and how to fix it in future.

Thanks for answer.

Mareks,

If the links were added manually, especially if the URL changed or if the page ID is used and isn't the same on the new instance, then Confluence has no control over updating them to the new information. This can be fixed by manually updating all entries in the database. An example of that is available here:

If the links were added automatically then they should correct themselves, but if they did not then that's something we'll need to have a look at. In that case I would advise you to raise a support ticket and include a sanitized copy of your database, the XML backup, and a support zip, and we can have a look at that for you.

Regards,

Shannon
