Hi,
I tried to set up a birthday calendar on Confluence where every user was supposed to add their name and ran in the following issue:
No response was visible when users were adding an event for certain user names.
I know from at least six people who had this issue.
I did some research and found this article that refers to the same problem and mentions the content indexing as an potential cause:
https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/cannot-add-an-event-in-people-calendars-249858390.html
Can you help me with that? Please let me know if you need more information to solve this.
Thank you in advance.
Hello there Vishal!
This issue can indeed be caused by a problem with the index. You can proceed to reindex from scratch. There are a few points for you to consider before reindexing:
- indexing can take a long time depending on instance size
- it is advisable to schedule a downtime for Confluence to perform this
- users accessing the instance during reindex can hinder the process
So, to reindex your index from scratch, you proceed as follows:
1- Shutdown Confluence
- Make sure that the process is not running
- You can check that with ps -aux | grep confluence in Linux and via the Process manager in Windows
2- Go to <confluence-home>
3- Remove the following folders:
- <confluence-home>/index
- <confluence-home>/journal
- <confluence-home>/logs
4- Start Confluence
5- Click Cog Icon > General Configuration
6- Search for Content Indexing in the left menu bar
7- Click the Rebuild button
Let us know if this solves the calendar issue!
Glad to be of help Vishal!
