Is it possible to combine Confluence for 10 or less users (on the free plan) with Jira Software Cloud for 16-25 users on an Annual plan ($1,750 per year)?
I'm trying to convert our Jira from Monthly to Annual and it really wants Confluence to come along with it at $500/year. But we don't want that. We just want Confluence to remain free.
Is it possible to do this?
If not, we'll just drop Confluence. We don't use it enough to justify much expense.
Short answer is yes, you can have different number of users between Atlassian products.
With Confluence (free) and Jira Software Cloud on Annual? Because when I change Jira from Monthly to Annual, it's trying to bring Confluence along and charge me $500 for it.

You may have to cancel the subscription of Confluence while upgrading Jira to the annual plan, once that is done you should be able to re-subscribe to the free plan. I would contact Pricing, billing & licensing help and they can verify.

@Mikael Sandberg do you know how I could export our Confluence articles and then re-import them into the upgraded-to-Annual-payment Jira Software (Cloud)? I wouldn't want all the links to Jira issues in teh Confluence articles to:
a. Go dead in Jira issues (the old links in Jira issues to Confluence articles which mention those Jira issues)
b. Be duplicated in every Jira issue mentioned in a Confluence article one I re-import the Confluence articles.

In Confluence, go to Settings > Backup manager. From here you can create a backup that you later can restore once you migrated Jira to an annual plan. See Create a site backup for more information, including how to import the backup later.

Thank you, @Mikael Sandberg . I've opened a ticket using the link you provided.
Atlassian replied to my support request:
Hi MyName,
Thanks for reaching out to Atlassian, I hope you're doing well. My name is Ephraim and I'm part of the billing and licensing team. We appreciate your patience as we've had a higher volume of requests recently.
The cloud Free plan is only available for monthly subscriptions. It is not possible to be on the annual plan for Jira Software while being on the Confluence Free plan.
Our annual subscriptions are priced by tier. Each tier corresponds to its own annual price. On your next renewal, annual customers will proactively be quoted for a tier that best matches their team size.
For example: If you are currently in the 501 - 2000 user tier for Jira Software, but only have 575 enabled users, you will automatically be quoted for the 600 user tier on your next renewal.
If you're looking to lower your bill you have a few options:
- Convert to an annual subscription. Annual subscriptions currently offer a discount that equates to 2 months free on an annual basis.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if you have questions.
All the best,
Ephraim
