We currently have a space where users are given viewing access by being added to a confluence group. That group is added to the space and set to view only and manages access for about 150 users.
We are now looking to give page owners editing access to their pages only and are not having any luck with making page restrictions work. Any suggestions on how to set this up?
Hi @Marian
Welcome to Atlassian Community!
I understand you want to restrict the page edit for one user as a page owner. To achieve this you can use page restriction feature as shown below -
But page restrictions will be inherited from the space permission. say for example, if user has only view access at space level, then restricting that user to edit the page with page restriction will not work and you get the below error message -
please accept my answer if this helped.

Thanks for @Teja
I had hoped that page restrictions are just that and they can be controlled from the level of the page.
We don't add users individually, they get added to a confluence group and then that group gets viewing permissions in the space.
Myself and and 2 others are part of that group but we have admin permissions at the level of the space so I assumed the logic would follow here and that whatever restrictions we set at the level of the page overrides.
What you're saying is if we want to give people edit access at the level of the page they need to be removed from the group, added as users with viewing access to the space and then we can make them editors on pages. That's a mouthful I know - hope I got it right.

Hi @Marian
It is not that you need to remove the users from group and give them edit access.
Let the users be in the same group for that particular space. you can explicitly add that user in individual space permission without removing them from group. consider if you want to restrict the page and give edit access to only one user in that group, its required that user have edit access to that space. then you can restrict the page and give edit access to only that user, otherwise you get the warning message "this user does not have edit access, contact confluence admin".
Hope this clarifies you.

I have tested your solution and by adding the user under individual permissions and by giving them edit access - they have edit access to everything.
I set up a page with restrictions but they are able to edit all other pages as well and that's not what we are looking for. Perhaps I'm missing something obvious?
