Create Jira issue by highlighting text in confluence is not working

Hi all

We are not able to create a Jira issue by highlighting the text in confluence. Do you have any Idea, what is going wrong?

What is going wrong?

• Please have a look at the image screenshot
• If open the dev tool, I can see there is an error:

  • Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'indexOf')

We are using:

• Confluence Server 7.13.2 LTS
• JIRA cloud
• On both side the application link is set and has the status -> CONNECTED
• I'm Admin on both systems

What did we try?

• Following the instruction: https://confluence.atlassian.com/confkb/unable-to-create-jira-issue-by-highlighting-text-in-a-confluence-page-833992994.html
• Updated all Apps under: {my-domain}/plugins/servlet/upm?source=side_nav_manage_addons
• Restarted the server
• Searching the internet

Hi @Ramy 

Please try below solution

1. Make sure that you have a permission to create issues on the target Jira instance
2. Navigate to Confluence administrations > Cache Statistics > Jira Resources Manager and flush the cache
3. Navigate to the Confluence page again and make sure now you are able to create issue from there
4. Try using another browser or in incognito mode
5. Check for any errors in the confluence log

Thanks for your reply but on my instance I can't find Jira Resources Manager I only can see:

• Confluence and Jira Content Connector
• Jira Metadata Aggregate

And Yes I do have permission on both sides to create/read/write. And I also have tried it on different browsers and used in each the incognito mode as well.

At the end of the page, you have "Flush All".  Please click on it and try.
Also check for any errors in the confluence log.

It didn't help :( and in the log there are no errors

Hi @Ramy ,

I would suggest some more steps for analysis. Please check

1.  All modules of Confluencesystem plugin Confluence and Jira Content Connector is in enabled state
2. Add the JIRA issue macro for loading issue in confluence and check if it is working?
   If this doesn’t it could be related in which case, starting at your logs is most important. Check jira and confluence application logs.
3. Check if your application links are connected using "OAuth (impersonation)"
4. If everything looks correct, please check if there is any slowness in jira. The connection is probably timing out due to Jira slowness.
5. Finally restart jira and check

As I wrote everything regarding connection between JIRA and Confluence is correctly working.

In Confluence we do use JIRA issue macro and it works perfect. 

JIRA Cloud and Confluence Server are connect through OAuth and they have the status green...

We can't restart JIRA since we are using the cloud version.

The last solutions I can provide is 

1. Recreate the application link
   Recreating the link ensures that the application link uses any configuration changes you've made while troublshooting a problem.
2. Specify the default instance if you have multiple links to the same type of application (for example, to multiple Jira) using the Make Primary link.

The problem is still there and we have only one connection (JIRA Cloud - Confluence Server)

I think this is a topic for the support team of Confluence.
