I created a new page, then deleted the old page. I got a message that said I didn't have permissions necessary to delete the page, but it was deleted anyway.

The old page still appears on the page tree, right next to the new one.

My administrator can't figure out how to get rid of the old link on the page tree which just goes to a page that says, "This page has been deleted."

What to do?

Thanks.

Hi Carl,

For Confluence Server, the first step I recommend when a list of pages is not updating as expected is to reindex as described in: Content Index Administration and if that doesn't work, rebuild the indexes from scratch as described in: How to Rebuild the Content Indexes From Scratch on Confluence Server

If you are using Confluence Cloud, you may open a support request for Atlassian's Cloud support team to reindex your instance. To do so you need your Cloud URL.

If you are not sure which platform your instance is on, just check the URL you use to access Confluence. If the URL contains "atlassian.net" then it is Cloud.

I look forward to hearing whether reindexing fixes the issue.

Thanks,

Ann

@AnnWorley  Are there any dangers or risks with re-indexing?   I assumed the issue @Carl_Yorke described was maybe a cache issue.
