Disable autowatch in Confluence cloud globally?

Deleted user August 6, 2018

I would like autowatch to be turned off by default, ideally per space, worse case when the user is created.

Is that possible? I see the setting to disable autowatch once the account is created.

thanks for the help

Hi, Peter.

By default in Confluence, Users are automatically added as Watchers to pages that they've collaborated on. Users can disable the auto-watch function from within their Confluence User Profiles by unchecking the "Autowatch" option within their Email Settings.

It's not currently possible for an Admin to disable this Globally so it must be done per User. We know some Admins would rather their Users opt-in to auto-watching and we are tracking this request here:

If it's something you'd like to see implemented in Confluence, I do ask that you include any feedback you may have for our Developers and Product Managers as it does affect their decisions on what new features to implement.
