Display Page Title (not a link)

UJ February 7, 2018

I write several manuals in Confluence and export them as PDF. Now I would like to add a reference to another guide title (actually just a page in Confluence). Instead of entering the page title (statically), I would like to do this as a reference.

E.g.: For more details see the manual "Trees V. 3". And "Trees V. 3" is simply the page title of another page. But it's not a link.

Is this possible?

Hi Urs,

Can you let us know exactly what you're trying to reference? You won't be able to do this dynamically unless you tell the page what to look for, such as children, self, etc.

Could you explain the usage and we can try to come up with a solution for you?

Regards,

Shannon

Hi Shannon

I want to reference the page name. I want to be able to display the name of a page A in another page B. If the page name A changes, the reference in page B should also change.

We are using Confluence for writing manuals and would like to have references to the other manuals. Links doesn't work, because we create PDFs. And our Confluence setup is company internal.

Hi Urs,

Thank you for clarifying.

The only way to do that would be to insert a link, unfortunately. Even if you were to write a user macro for this it still needs something to reference, such as a PageID or Child pages.

The link is what keeps the page ID in the background and will update dynamically as soon as the title is changed.

I've tagged your post for Marketplace Apps users in case they have another suggestion for you using a third-party add-on, so keep an eye out for any additional replies on this.

Regards,

Shannon

Hi Shannon

Thank you for the answer. Probably I will try to write an add-on :-)

Best regards

Urs,

No problem! Good luck with that and if you have any trouble you can reach out to our Developer Community. :)
