Embedding a comment

It seems like the only way I can embed a new comment is at the bottom of the page. I see no obvious way to have one embedded directly next to the item I want to comment on as I would in, say, Word. What am I missing here?

Highlight the text you want to comment on, and then hover the cursor over it.  You'll get one or more options to click on (depending on settings and apps - it's usually 2 when a Confluence is linked to a Jira).

The one option you should always get is "comment"

No "duh!" - I think it's one of those functions that only seems obvious after you've had it pointed out to you or stumbled across it accidentally.
