Hi,
We have about 400 active spaces in Confluence, and are now in the process of categorising these spaces.
The next planned step is to make a visual overview of all spaces based on their categories. E.g. a diagram based on the categories, and when clicking on a category a list of all spaces with that category is shown.
The spaces list macro is not sufficient as users can switch the selected category. So I was thinking of creating a user macro for this, but am not sure how to start.
Anyone has made something to help users navigate through all spaces to quickly find the space they need?
Thanks,
Patrick
Hi Patrick!
I think there are several diagram apps on the marketplace that can facilitate this for you to some extent.
My company's app, Gliffy Diagrams for Confluence, allows you to create diagrams with links to other pages within Confluence (or external pages) that would make it possible for you to create a more visual page/space tree.
You specifically talked about being able to click on a category and have the diagram show all the spaces listed in that category. I think this would be a feature unique to Gliffy! This type of interaction could be created with our dynamic layers feature — but you would have to manually update the list as more spaces are added.
Let me know if this sounds like something you'd want to use. I didn't want to get too detailed without knowing if this sounds like the right solution to you! You can check out our marketplace page here.
Hi Samie,
Thanks!
But we are using draw.io for diagramming. I'll have a look if it also supports dynamic layers. Thanks again.
Best regards,
Patrick

Of course! You should be able to accomplish something similar or close to your vision with draw.io — maybe just a little less interactive.
Good luck with this project!
